SUMMARY


Thank you for taking the time to look through my CV. I have worked as an instructor for over 15 years and have worked in South Korea and Japan. The courses I have taught range from kindergarten to university. Courses included the 4 core English blocks, TOEIC, TOEFL, presentations, ESP courses and Spanish. My research interests include AI and L2, holistic learning, curriculum and syllabus design, and various kinds of media uses in L2 improvement, including podcasts and film.

EXPERIENCE


University of Shizuoka (Full-time Instructor)

04/2024-Present          Shizuoka, Japan

· Provided unique and personalized classes for 25+ class sizes in topics that ranged from TOEIC to English conversation to reading and writing courses.

· Working closely with students to carry out new research ideas that covered outdoor learning, syllabus design, textbook design, and L2 technology.

· Head teacher and curriculum designer for Nirayama High School’s Online English Program.

· Recipient of special research grants.

Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (Part-Time Instructor)

10/2020-03/2024          Beppu, Japan

· Worked with students from all over the world and worked with an international team of teachers to design lessons that were of international scale and style.

· Studied the effects of film and L2, combined this with reflective journaling, and created research article, “To Fully Express Yourself”.

· Worked with Paul Sevigny, of APLJ, and created marketing designs for APLJ conferences.

· Used APU’s beautiful scenery to encourage outdoor learning in English classes. This led the creation of the journal article, “Let’s Take This Outside”.

Kyonggi University (Assistant Professor (Full-Time))

04/2016-03/2020          Suwon, South Korea

· Served as English Department Coordinator. Led team of 35+ teachers in executing new ideas and implementing teacher feedback for more successful classes.

· Recipient of “Top Teachers Award”. Ranked within top 5% of faculty overall from student evaluations.

· Created “Turtle Study Group”. This was an extracurricular Spanish study group. Students went from beginner to semi-conversational in one semester using TPR method.

Konyang University (Assistant Professor (Full-Time))

04/2014-03/2016          Daejeon, South Korea

· Worked with medical students and hospital staff to give effective English lessons that focused on ESP Medical classes.

· Assisted hospital staff with Korean - English translations for medical handbooks for foreign staff members.

· Created and led Medical English Winter Courses where students were taught how to give effective medical presentations and communicate with foreign patients.
